Buy a live one. We have had ours for a few years and it's fine. It lives in the garden (in a large pot)and we carry it in for 7-8 days at Xmas. Just keep it away from the fire or radiators and keep it moist and it'll be fine.
A lot cheaper in the long run too and no showers of dry needles when it's time to go.
A plastic one. Infinitely recyclable, needs no special care and is far kinder to the environment. - some of the modern ones now are so realistic you can get ones that drop their needles.
A plastic one is NOT kinder to the environment than a real tree. How can it be - plastic production and then shipping from China to Europe is a process that produces tonnes of carbon. A real tree takes carbon out of the air which can only be a good thing.
