There will be people who think that bikers are crazy and shouldnt be allowed, that the Isle of man races are too dangerous and should be banned, especially now bikes are much faster and capable of silly speeds.
Mind you, i cant see those of that opinion deliberately posting on a bike forum to get a reaction.
If you dont enjoy xmas then spend you day any way you like, its not compulsary you know.

to all of you who answered 1 this is not a wind up it is my true feeling 2 nobody in my family gives or recieves presents or cards or does anything special at christmas or new year i asked a question which expressed my views as well i dont expected to be insulted i have not insulted anyone in my original question and as i have said i dont expected to be insulted
you have not insulted in your question but you seem to think that those who celebrate xmas in a religious or a purely commercial way are wasting 'time and money'.
I for one am accepting of those who choose to celebrate xmas or not, as i said thats your decision to make, but please dont question the enjoyment i get from giving gifts and having a fun holiday time with my friends and family.

Don't know why people celebrate motorbiking in the isle of man TT races.
There are plenty of other roads in the world, why waste money on over inflated B&B prices & ferry crossings (I assume Manx take the ferry as flying would be too exciting)
Just go and race on a B road
Don't forget you're helmet, sorry your hemet

The races are really good, that's why. I'm not someone who knows every race winner ever, by the way, I just love the tradition of it. I have friends who live in Peel, but luckily for them they aren't inside the ring of the racetrack so we are still able to move round the island during race time. It totally disrupts normal life, but everyone gets on with it and whenever we've been we've had a carnival atmosphere.
I'm really thick, by the way, so what's the Hemet reference?

I don't think anyone 'forgot' the true meaning of Christmas at all and that it was about the birth of Jesus. It's pretty obvious that. What people have reacted to is the mean-spiritedness of manxbiker's post.
But, as has been said, each to their own.
I wish you a happy Christmas anyhow manx, however you choose to deal with it.

I knew the stab wasn't at me, Compostella. With the author's name being 'manxbiker' it was obvious whom the stab was at, cmon. I just wanted to defend the poor auld races, even though I know people are using them to get a rise out of the author of this question. I was taking a corner on the races behalf, sort of.
I still love Christmas though, and still think you're as miserable as my ex, but stick to it if you must manxie!
Do you get bought pressies by people who think you must be joking or will change your mind, and what do you do if so? My ex used to get bought stuff by his best friends, it annoyed and embarrassed him but as a statement he obviously was not going to start buying Christmas pressies in return the year after or anything. He used to make sure he bought good birthday pressies for them all. Interestingly, they used to give their pressies to him the day before, not weeks before just in case hed change his mind and buy them something. When I asked them why they did that, they said it was because they didnt want him to think they expected him to find the time to suddenly buy them something in return (as if he would, in their words).
When you said that the rest of your family genuinely did not celebrate Christmas, is that totally true? Its just that his mum used to celebrate it by buying her friends and whatnot pressies, just not him. And then play everything down. Hence the murder when I bought the box of chocs for her that time!

I wonder how many people who are shouting so loud about Christmas are actually going to be attending church on the day? As that is the real reason for Christmas.... As for family time and watching your child's face light up.. shouldn't everyday be about your family or do we HAVE to have Christmas to remind us that we have actually got one?
