Box of nice groceries with things she may like but wouldn't perhaps buy for herself .Houseplants ,basket of fruit .Books if she reads ,magazine subscription,..ooh I don't know really ..I have this problem with my M-I-L and an aged Aunt but this year we have an agreement ....no presents ! I would rather do something or buy something for them when they actually need it during the year not just for Christmas.

Being an old lady myself - and one who has lots of STUFF - I always love it when my family makes a basket of my favorite - too expensive to buy all the time - candies, snacks, coffee, etc. - and they never go to waste!!! I also love it when they do the same things with the too expensive bath/shower products that are my favorites.
Hi QuizmasterG
My Mother-in-law is 78 and always says there isn't anything she needs. I usually buy her a calender of local sights around us as she lives 200+ miles away. One year I bought her scented drawer liners and this year from Woolworths I have bought her a set of 5 crocus vases that include the crocus bulb, easy to do and I think it is something different that she will enjoy seeing dotted around her room.
Hopefully there's some ideas to get you started :o)

My mother-in-law is 85, and she has more energy in her pinky finger than I do in my entire body. The last thing she wants is more stuff in her life. We're not geographically close, though, so we perform errands and chores when we do visit at other times of the year. (Christmas is with MY relatives.)
Luckily, she's made it quite clear she enjoys vitamins and cash. I'm good with that.
