He's a big bloke, but thinks nothing of going on stage in a fairy outfit at Christmas. Far from being laughed at, he gets a lot admiration, often from other blokes who say they wouldn't have the guts to do it.
You should be able to get most of your costume requirements from any dancewear shop. Dance tights are better than ordinary women's tights, too, as they're thicker and look better.

This takes a bit of putting together, but how's about going as a sex change?
Get an old suit and shirt and cut down the side seams, so the front and back are separate, but keep the arms whole and attached to the front -it's easiest if you then sew the shirt to the jacket front to keep it all together. Stitch some elastic onto the legs of the suit to hold them round your legs.
Wear the front of the suit and shirt with a tie as normal, but get a bra, knickers, suspenders, stockings etc. that you wear so they're visible at the back - ideally stitch the bra and pants onto the suit to keep it held together.
Sounds complicated I know, but don't worry about doing any fancy sewing, tacking stitches will do.
When you first walk into the room, everyone will call you a boring *rse when they see you in the suit, but when you go to the bar, it's practically guaranteed to bring the house down. 8)

What about going as Christmas Dinner (with a twist !!!). Use a large(ish) piece of cardboard cut into a circle (about the size of a small table). Cut a hole in the middle large enough for your head to pop through it. Then get a large piece of material to cover the table (again cutting a hole in the middle for your head). Then stick some plastic cups, cutlery and suchlike to the "table top". Finally get a Dish cover .... when you go to the party stick your head through the table middle and cover your head with the dish cover.... There you have a Christmas Dinner with a twist.... Would say though it's a bit of a b*gger to dance or do anything dressed like this.. we went to a fancy dress party with someone dressed like this - it was hilarious and least expected, we had a laugh all night long when he was trying to dance, drink or do anything - a great laugh ! Its up to you how long you stay dressed like it.
