We went away for christmas a few years ago, to Tunisia. Arrived at tea time on christmas eve and when the passengers started leaving the coach, one couple refused. Apparently they had gone to there to get away from everything traditional christmassy, and were horrified to find that there were greetings all over the doors of the hotel, and lots of decorations inside reception which could be seen from the coach. They were not happy but eventually got off the coach. They were even more unhappy when on christmas morning, in the bright sunshine, there was dark skinned santa claus walking around, complete with a long white beard and outfit, ringing a bell wishing everyone a happy christmas. When we got back into our room at lunchtime on christmas day, there was a traditional shoe shape made in chocolate, which had been left for us =by the window in the sunshine and which had started melting. Good to have the holiday in bright sunshine thought!
Its not really cheap to go away for Christmas in the UK You can treble everything at Christmas time mainly because the staff want treble time to work at these times, Wouldn't you?? Even Holiday Camps are very expensive. Stay at home put your feet up get a TV Xmas dinner in and save the money to go away somewhere nice in the spring.
