my parntner is down to work xmas day but the shop is closed they say she is not getting paid for it is this correct?

You mean she would normally work Tuesday's but as the shop is shut she won't be working and won't get paid.

Provided she gets paid for 24 days annual leave each year (this 24 days includes and bank and public holiday she gets paid for) the company are not obliged to pay her, unless it states otherwisde in her contract.
Isn't this only compulsory if she is a full time worker Ethel?
Part time employees have exactly the same statutory rights as their full time colleagues, pro rata.

On what basis is this lady employed?
