a christmas poem
A Christmas poem for the seasonally stressed
It was around about eight thirty when I struggled off the train
And dragged myself to Starbucks, to avoid the wind and rain
I looked across at the still closed shops with panic in my heart
27 presents and no clue where to start
Through my second white choc mocha for the cousins I proposed
Starbucks mugs and coffee while the other shops were closed
I have six close-ish cousins so six mugs I did buy
Then as a new door opened in BHS I try
Simple sweaters for two old aunts and socks for Uncle Bill
But I couldn’t manage everyone so 18 presents still
The Disney store was opened so two nieces easily
Were sorted princess outfits which quite delighted me
And Daniel a best friends son, a Finding Nemo toy
A talking Mickey for his twin his family to annoy
14 presents still to get…On to Boots I dash
3 for 2 on xmas gifts So I could save some cash
My sister got a perfume set Boring but her fave
And I got smellies for my neighbour And feeling rather brave
