Evening/Formal wear

What is the fashion for evening wear, is black tie with a winged collar pleated front out in favour of the dimpled regular shirt look?
Should the jacket be singled breasted with 1, 2 or 3 buttons?

Take your pick jo............ I think winged collar is something of an affectation. ;o)
Just black bowtie, plain white shirt, and single breasted DJ (2 button)
