My birthday - need to look hot

Hi there I am a curvy size 16 woman and its my birthday get together on saturday - I need an outfit that will make me look good. I am your typical t-shirt/jeans type of girl so I do not own anything else clothes wise. I was thinking a dress over jeans, I am not too comfortable showing off my legs so I figure this would be a good way to go about it. What are the do's and don'ts? I dont obviously want to look frumpy etc... so how do I pull this off I am 5'11'' so height is not a problem. I dont really want a strappy dress, if it has to be one then what should I wear underneath to cover my arms a little?

Please help the fashion confused girl who needs to knock em dead!

Or, wrap type just above the knee dress, show off your cleavage, over jeans, with pointy boots. That always looks nice.

Aline dressed look really nice on my sister whose also a size 16. She got two really gorgeopus ones in dorothy perkins.
They go well with jeans or tights.
If not then wrap dresses will def flatter you.
