Should men over a certain age, lets say 50, wear jeans. I'm of the opinion that at 50 its time to hang up the denim and wear a casual trouser. I just don't think men have the shape for it after that. i've been shot down in the office for suggesting this, does anyone agree?

Though not quite as old as Lottie I am also now wearing sensible knee length skirts and nice little blouses with a cardi and pearls.

My wife is begging me to go back to jeans :-)
Does jean live far from you dtd?
Nothing wrong with jeans on an older man...(or woman, I'm 56 & practically live in mine)...as long as they fit well, are clean & preferably a darkish denim...no bleached jobs :o)

lol @ Dave
I would shoot you down for it as well, nothing wrong with jeans on all ages

I bet when you are 50 you will think differently..
I think anyone without a flat tum should be banned from wearing hipsters and/or exposing their belly buttons........URRRRGH!
ADS, how old are you?
Jeans do not represent youth or age. Jeans were originally working clothing anyway. I agree with the truth hurts. Mr LL lives in jeans when he is not at work and sometimes wears them to work if he is out on a building site and he looks good in them. They are practical and universal. I wear them all the time too and I am certainly not trying to look young. I wear them because I like them.
Most men when they reach 50 go for the beige look - beige shirts, beige t shirts, beige trousers - I wont let me husband wear beige at all!
I prefer green anyway!
I have bleached and torn ones Robinia. They have got that way with age!! I draw the line at going out in them though. Strictly for the garden (when I not wearing my nightie that is)

DTD. You made me LOL!!
Agree with you yelenots,if i start morphing in a beige pensioner, shoot me...
lol so true yelenots!

I had a similar thread going on here before asking why you never see elderly people wearing jeans. I think 50 is a bit young to stop wearing them...maybe 70 or 80 because by then you loose all shape and they're probably not comfy
I quite like beige or Khaki on a bloke of any age - the sort of rugged safari look! What I hate is purple shirts on men of any age and those awful gaudy short sleeved shirts that men buy to go on holiday with!!
Have seen a pensioner wearing dark jeans, she is anorexic, looks awful wearing tight jeans...
Whats worse is seeing a 70 year old in a minskirt and boob tube!! Bloody grandad!!

I'm 34, and please consider me well and truly shot down. although i still think i have a point. Jeans just don't look good on "older" people. I do concur however, that a good jean is a good jean, and a badly tailored jean just looks bad anyway, whoever wears them.
its really not gone down well in this office, i've just had a stress ball thrown at me .
never did Armand Denis any harm did it Lottie?
don't worry ads - have you never heard of friendly fire? (;-))
My son wears jeans half way down his bum with his boxers showing he cant walk properly in them coz they falling down - it looks awful but...... he wont be told!
what is it with youngsters who think once you're turned 50 life suddenly stops and you have to dress in a certain way???
my husband looks great in jeans, he usually wears grey denim just because he likes the colour, but he also wears blue denim. most of the clothes he wears would look equally good on a bloke in his 20s, 30s or 40s too.
i look at some blokes over 50 in their polyester 'trews' and think how blooming awful they look.
