21st birthday

My closest friend has gone travelling for 8 months (sob sob)and will be 21 when she returns home. I want to throw her a surprise party so thought i'd start early but not sure what to do-theme, fancy dress, daytime or evening do? Not sure on the gift either(money no object).Shes really laidback, (untidy!), loves taking photos, socialising and dancing, no hobbies, Any ideas?thanks

If she has been travelling. The places she has visited could provide the theme.

Gift - contact other friends/family get a selection of photos either frame them, make a collage or put them on a digital photo frame. The digital photo frame might be a good idea if she has taken lots of photos whilst travelling.

Timing depends on when you think those who she would want to attend can be there.
