This site offers £10.10 per gram:
http://www.lois-jewellery.com
So that's £80.80 for your gold

This one quotes just a few pence lower (£80.09):
http://www.hattongardenmetals.com/index.aspx

This is marginally better (£82.80):
http://www.bestpriceforgold.co.uk/

But "around £80" seems to be a reasonable figure. (You might get slightly more from a traditional High Street jeweller but it probably wouldn't be enough to make it worth spending hours looking for a a better price).

Chris
Approx £85 at todays prices ... http://www.myprecious.../gold-price-per-gram/
Search around the price varies.
9ct is in fact only 3/8th gold, it's 3 grams of gold, 5 grams of something else so about £30 at the site above.
Geezer is correct - not exactly Fort Knox or Gordoin Brown selling off the nation's assets!

Unless Chris's quotation takes into account quality level (i.e. 'dirt' in the gold). I havent looked at that but most markets gold assume 98% gold.
I took 7grms to jewellers last week and got £70.
The pricing in all cases listed above is specifically for 9ct.

8g of 24ct would return around £210.
"So for the points of which I've missed,
I need to make a plus points list,
Of the things I have tight in my hold,
If not a million tonnes of gold"

A poem by JB12 (1998)

How much would a million tonnes of gold be worth at today's prices?

By the way there is between 6 and 12 million tonnes of gold in the world's oceans.
Try a jewellers, they often offer a better price than those places that you send your gold to.
I have been told by a jeweller friend that these cash-for-gold companies where you send your gold is a con. It's better to take it to a jeweller or goldsmith.
