Buying a Kindle

Which one should i get, £111 or £151? Whats the difference? Can I send emails from it? How do I get a new book on it? Do I need to plug it into something to download the book?

Get the 3g one (£151) - this means you can use it anywhere where these is a 3g phone signal rather than just where there is WiFi.

You can download from the internet, although if you wish I believe you can transfer books across via a USB cable.

As for email, yes, I believe you can although I've never tested it or set it up - so I cannot attest to it's ease of use.

Cheap one will give you internet connection with WI Fi or router, the expensive one will give you IT connection, ANYWHERE.

No you cant send emails from it......only to Amazon via their special email address.

New books may be obtained from Amazon site, which have to be paid for.

You can get books FREE from websites but you need an intermediary on your computer e.g www.calibre.com to facilitate this move.

From Amazon, you do not need to plug in your Kindle, anywhere, but from other sites, you need to plug your Kindle into your PC.

Free books are books that very few people are interested in............!! ;-) that is why there are free.

But you can get certain newspapers delivered free of charge from these sites.

amazon have loads of free books (mainly classics or newbies), and you don't need to download the stuff sqad is suggesting

Personal opinion. I can buy a lot of paperbacks for £111. Even more for £151. And they need no batteries.

The shortcoming is you can't transfer a book to someone else after you've read it.

Transferring a paperback is dead easy. My sister transferred one to me recently. I expect she wants me to transfer it back though.

A Kindle will hold 3500 books Old Geezer. Thats a heck of a lot of paperbacks to fit in your suitcase on holiday.

Nothing worse than taking a book away with you and it turns out to be rubbish. Atleast on my kindle I have plenty of choice.

Don't get me wrong Old Geezer, I do love my paperbacks but having used the Kindle now for a while, I love that too.

A guy on the radio the other day was saying he bought a Kindle but never uses it anymore as he also has a i-pad and got the Kindle APP for it. So maybe you should get an i-pad.
