I shop purely out of necessity and gain no pleasure from it other than to know it is done. Have never done a grocery shop on line. When I was housebound with a back injury I phoned a friend who would pop ciggies through my letterbox every other day, thank goodness for a letter cage on the door. I always keep sufficient medicinal stocks ;o)
You're definitely giving away your age, Calibax!
Do you remember this place?

We had a MacFisheries in Ipswich but you've reminded of one store we didn't have when I was a teenager.
A new boy, Tom, joined the school when his father (a doctor) moved to Ipswich from London. We were all stunned by the 'stylishness' of Tom's clothes and asked where he got them from. On the following Saturday morning there were queues of 6th form lads at Ipswich station, waiting for the train to London, so that we could visit the wonderland that we'd just learnt about. Yes, it was C&A!

I still like to pop into C&A when I'm abroad. (I've been in the Ostend one quite often, and I found a branch in Bratislava last year. They seem to be in almost every European country except the UK!):
