Just thought Id tell you about my latest irritation. i bought a jacket in the sale from M&S while on holiday. When I got it home I decided that it wasn't really me and took it back. No problem it hadnt been worn and I had the receipt. I was given a refund back to the card I paid with, or so I thought. Today I just happened to look at my bank statement and found i had been charged instead of refunded. Fortunately I still had the refund slip so reached it to have a look. No it was a bill. So now I have no jacket and I have paid for it twice but cannot prove it. I am going to the store tomorrow to try to sort it out but I will always check my refund vouchers in future!

I know serves me right for buying things I dont really need
You can't prove it but the store can, go back, explain, give them a few minutes to check their product file and bacl office computer and you will get both lots of money back, technology can be a wonderful thing in the right hands
Heh, happens to us all.

Luckily with it being Marks & Sparks you should get it sorted tomorrow. Not like us at Co-op, we'd tell you to bugger off ;-)
If you took it back to the refunds counter then M&S will be able to tell it was a returned item. They will also have a record on their stock count that they had one returned. Simple.

Lets hope so. Not a happy bunny at the moment. Glad I dont shop at the co-op!! Although I would have got double divi or dont they give that anu more
mind you, you are only entitled to a refund as a good will gesture, not as a right under statute,
Hope you get your money back maclarencat. Please let us know how ya get on tomorrow x
Started up again a couple of years ago Maclaran, though now its called a Membership Card and its all snazzy with errrrr a card :-)

Oh yes I do know that and that is one of the reasons I was very happy to be given a refund. I knew they didnt have to. Though I am sure they are not allowed to charge you twice and keep the item!

Ohh look at me Boo all trendy knowing about divi (even if it is a card these days) I will let you know Supersuezy There will be some major stamping of the feet of the dont sort it!
Damn - does that mean I am going to have give up some of the dividends on my M&S shares....
They'll have to do something when you show them the bank statement.
A few years ago I went to a curry house with a friend of mine and we split the bill. We both paid with Lloyds visa delta cards (before chip and pin) and duly signed our respective receipts. It was only when I got my bank statement that I discovered that my card had been swiped twice by mistake instead of my card and his being swiped. We only checked the amounts when we signed (as you do) and not the card number. I phoned my bank and they refunded me straight away. They said the mistake was with the restaurant and they would recover the money from them. If you get no luck with M&S (which you probably will because they`re quite good like that) try your bank.

Well I hope so . Although all my bank statement proves is that I paid the same amount not what I bought. I am sure they will sort it out. Yes DT they are going to give me all your money !!! You are too rich anyway if you have shares

Thankyou 237sj
i have had a very bad experience returning things to M and S, so good luck!
so did i, be careful if you buy from M&S Outlet store, where they sell last seasons stock, and need to change it, or its faulty, as you have to take it back to the store you bought it from originally, which i didn't know, i assumed you could change things at any store, so i ended up paying more in fares to get back to the original store and home than the items cost, won't do that again.

Good result from marks and Spencer full refund given no problem. The girl on the till remembered serving me.
# EM10 (and everyone else, come to that.)

Marks and Spenser outlet stores use another dodge. A large percentage of their goods are NOT ex high street at all. They are labelled "Just for you" and have never been anywhere near a High Street store.

Anything bearing a RED ticket marked "Just for you" has been specially made for M & S outlet stores … and as such it defeats the whole idea of that kind of shop. As a result the goods have no true comparative value at all except in the imagination of the merchandising department.
