What would be the best way to wrap a fully rigged model galleon? It's 3' high and 3' long and needs a great deal of protection. I'm selling 3 on ebay. Thanks.

Could you secure the hull so that it couldn't rattle about in its container then fill the box with small pieces of foam?
Question Author
It hasn't got a container as such sandyRoe but I could get a fairly robust cardboard box I guess. Thanks. I hadn't thought about foam, can you buy it somewhere?
I expect Staples would sell it and boxes.
Or maybe polystyrene beads? I'm no expert I was just making a suggestion which I hoped would be helpful.
polystyrene beads, and bubble wrap round the lot?

Excellento!! Thanks.
you should get some sort of prize for most intriguing question... along with that one about Goldfish poo.

One likes to grab the attention don't you know and I really wanted to know. Cheers.
I'd double box it as well if possible as it's delicate.

Good idea D9.
Carefully :-)

It needs to be packed so that it CANNOT move inside the package. The package needs to be robust enough to resist all likely knocks and bumps in transit. Ultimately it depends on the value. I would take professional advice from more than one source on this one.
very large bubble bubble-wrap might help too - help to cushion the knocks - and also make sure that you mark your packages as Fragile. I have Fragile tape - big red letters on white tape.

Btw - if you are already listing these items, please make sure that your postage and packing charges allow for the weight of the box and the packaging materials, as well as the actual postage. Postage rates change if the box is that large and weighs over two kilos. You might be better going somewhere like WH Smiths and sending it via DHL.

I mention this because I sell on eBay and always weigh items in their intended packaging, when calculating the P&P costs - I got caught out badly at the beginning where buyers paid a lot less postage than it actually cost me to mail, so overall I got less than the sale price for the item.

I was in the queue at the PO yesterday when a woman was trying to mail a parcel containing a small suitcase - over 2Kg, to an EU country. She took it away again when she was told that postage alone would be £28....

Good advice boxtops and duly noted. Thank you.

Can you not get it in a bottle..................
Get a box to fit, put the galleon in and fill all the remaining space with popcorn.
No, not the stuff with honey or sugar on. Plain popped corn
This kind of packaging is sometimes done in USA as it is very light and it stuffs the box fairly rigid.

Thanks for all the advice. I drove them down to an auctioneer in the end, veeery carefully. They arrived unscathed.
