An item I'm selling on eBay hasn't gone up for three days! Should I take it off eBay or take a chance and leave it in the hope the price will rise to an acceptable amount? It's worth more than what the latest bidder is offering and I decided not to put a reserve price on it. My BIG mistake I s'pose!Wot would YOU do in this situation?!

I had the same thing recently. All the action took place in the last minute and I got more than my price. No reserve? as you say, your mistake, your risk.

Potty I would put this one down to experience. You can withdraw anything, even with bids on it, but I would see what happens. Next time dont put the start price as anything that you dont want it to go for. I have 2 items on at the moment. One is rocketing away and the other more or less static but it is the way it goes on ebay.

Thx evry one for your replies. The item is worth at least £300 and is stuk at £100. Like you say, it's a risk but I need the space at home and will hope evry one goes mad in the last minute!!!!

You can't take it off once someone has bid on it, unless you report it as damaged, or no longer available.
I list often, and I would never put the start price as anything less than the very minimum which I am prepared to pay for it.
If you should take it off now (for one of the above reasons) then you relist it again, you run the risk that the current high bidder will notice, and report you to eBay for sharp practice. I wouldn't risk that - just hope for the best. Have you got many watching it?

I'm fairly sure (and I've just confirmed it with my missus) that you can cancel a sale, even after someone has already bid.
Whenever I put something on Ebay and I'm not too sure if it'll make a decent amount, I always add a footnote that I'm advertising the item elsewhere and as such, reserve the right to cancel the sale at any time. You can leave it right up to the last few minutes (but make sure you give yourself enough time to fully cancel the sale). One of the options that Ebay offer as a reason for you cancelling the sale is, "item has been sold elsewhere", so you can just reckon that you sold your item in loot (or wherever) - leave it a while and then re-advertise it ...... happy days :)

I would just add potty that I have had things go for less than I wanted and things that I have been very happy with. As my daughter once said to me - Never try to understand ebay!

potty, if you have 20 watchers they are probably biding their time for a last minute pounce. I use a bidding site if there is something I really want to put in a last minute bid. Sensible way to go if you dont want to push the price up.

I was just going to ask how many watchers you had. I had an item sell yesterday which stuck for 8 days at the same price and then in the last two days it increased fourfold.

20 watchers would suggest that you will get other bidders then, potty - lots of people use a sniping site, or wait until the last minute to make a manual bid. Personally, I don't - I put in the bid straight away for the maximum I'm prepared to pay, then if nobody else bids, I get it for the lower price anyway. Good luck!

yes, if there is something I really want I go with goofbay. it is so useful because sometimes you cant be near a computer near the end of the auction. I usually get what I what, but sometimes dont if my highest price is not enough. I have used other sniping sites in the past. I am a bit of an ebay addict. I buy and sell often. Only once had an undeserved negative and ebay withdraw the comment as they agreed with me it was unfair.

Can you close an auction if there are bids on it? It's so long since I looked at eBay's terms and conditions that I can't remember.

Yes, you can close something with bids on it. Ebay contact anybody who has bid and lets them know it is closed.

if u put on the details saying i have the right to withdraw u can even withdraw once the bidding has stopped
