What the heck are they doing in supermarkets at this time of the day & it being one of the busiest days of the year!!!!!! When my mum was alive she did her shopping first thing in the morning as she said it wasn't fair on the workers.

eh?
I'll shop when I choose. Lead a busy life even though retired.
perhaps you would like pensioners to be allowed into supermarkets only at certain times so not to annoy other people. and we could add people with children to the list, people with guide dogs and anyone who doesn't look like they can run fast.
ps kat - i think you are playing to the wrong audience here - i reckon abou 50% of users are retired
People of all ages are entitled to shop whenever the hell they want! Why should pensioners 'get out of the way' for younger people?
Those old people will be you one day! It is frightening how quickly this happens. Why do you not just smile and if someone is in your way say excuse me. There are enough rude people in the world.
not another bash at the pensioners going shopping, getting on the bus nonsense, heavens sake. they have lives too surprisingly enough, what makes you think they have stopped working just because they are pensioners.
Maybe if there was an cash incentive for senior citizens not to shop at the time the 'greater gods' think they should be able to waltz up the aisles at break-neck speed, there could be a win-win here.
a lot of pensioners still work, maybe your mother was one of those lucky ones who didnt have to work.
How about we have our own supermarket ' Sagaburys'.
perhaps there should be a pensioners only aisle in the supermarket. Stocked with everything they may need, tena lady, denture cream, spam etc so as not to upset the "workers" eh? and a separate til for them too. Or tag them so alarms beep as they try and enter the stores "out of hours"
Maybe they've been there since 7am and have forgotten the way out...........
maybe they are getting the shopping for their ungrateful brats.
I dread to think what the op's opinion is of people like me who have to be pushed around in a wheelchair, I bet there are quite a few people who think the disabled should only shop at the same ridiculously early time as the pensioners. lol
Im sure when kat is a pensioner she will dutifully stay out of all shops in case she upsets the younger people.
Pensioners are fine. At least they are polite and say 'excuse me please' when they want to get by you and ' thank you' when you let them through.
I admire your optimism cazz, but I think Kat will be on Chatterbank saying, "why can't the young people shop early before they go to work ? It would give us pensioners more room ".
Agree with all the postings except Evian - some pensioners are so rude I have used them as examples for my grandchildren of how not behave - They seem to think that because they are old they don't have to say please or thankyou Yes there are rude people in every age group and pensioners are no exception.

Sorry it is my little soapbox
Really?

I get more fed up of the Mums who seem to think their children should be using the supermarket as some sort of adventure playground and the people (again usually women) who just barge their fat backsides past you normally using their trollies.
right.. tin hat on.. maybe kat's comments were meant to be tongue in cheek?

okay, I'm done here ;o)
