morrisons will offset the cost because they earn a good commission from the giftcard providor for every gift card they sell, do not be fooled into thinking morrisons are doing anything but creating cash flow to make for a good end of year result to shareholders, they will have increased the cost of a litre at the pumps some weeks ago in anticipation of this offer launch too and so it is a smoke screen, don;t be fooled, shop at asda

mamy - it is somewhat ambiguous. Especially this paragraph

So is the promo a one-off? It does say ''NEVER pay full price on your fuel again.''

to explain further, when morrisons sell a third party gift card they do not actually then keep the cost of the giftcard, thye just get a commission from the gift card providor, (not the store the card is for) and this is actually money with no real costs linked to it as the cards require very little floor space/display area and are a great money earner if sold in quantity, morrisons may well sell thousands of these third party giftcards over the christmas period but by ingeniously introducing this so called fuel saving linked deal, they are really really cashing in on a pre-christmas- trading cash input.

I agree yes, most of these promos would tax a mathematician to work out if you actually save in the long run, their job is to convince customers to keep coming back. Caveat emptor etc.

I fully agree dotty. Morrisons will be the winners, you can guarantee on that.

It seems the discount on fuel is for ONE fill up when buying a gift card.

Do Morrisons expect you to buy a gift card every time you need to buy fue?

Yes dotty - probably best avoided. But recommending Asda; surely you asda be joking.

And we all know the Tesco slogan eVERY LITTLE HELPs.

absolutely furrypusscat, cast a sprat to catch a mackerel is their catch phrase in that morrisons boardroom, they will have added 1p to hundreds if not thousands of lines without a second thought as they know they are not able to match asda or tesco on the basket challenge.

asda is up to 7p a litre cheaper hereabouts sir.prize, that's what gets people in there and then they keep their average basket down too, morrisons keep pushing it up!

My local corner shop is a largish Morrisons where petrol is the cheapest already locally

I will not be buying a bloomin' gift card @ £10 a time just for 1p off a litre of petrol

So, the "''Never pay full price on your fuel again.''" is, IMO very misleading because who would ever buy a gift card every week? (or how ever often they fill up) No one!

ojread how much a litre are morrisons charging at the cheapest to you locally, I'm paying 134.9 at our local tesco or asda up to yesterday

Sainsburys is £1.38.9
My local Asda doesn't do fuel
And Tesco is £1.37.9

with sainsburys and tesco doing loyalty points it really leaves nothing in it between the lot

you could be right, but as I shop in neither Sainsburys or Tesco regularly enough for the points to be of any benefit to me, I'll stick with Morrisons (I managed to get a whole £2 coupon for Tesco in a year lol)
They do have the petrol miles thing. If you top up you get points - around 10 lots of £35 or more petrol will get me a fiver off shopping so around a good £50 a year for us :)
