Are there too many Pound shops in your area, two Discount shops side by side have opened in our local shopping centre and Poundstretcher nearby. Are they really bargain worthy.
Depends. A lot of things are cheaper, however its worth making sure you want the item or are just getting it because its "only a quid!- false economy. Also big stores can and do sometimes sell items on offer cheaper anyway.
Saw a prog about these shops recently.Seems they are all guilty of false or misleading advertising and short measures.Worth comparing prices on line before you buy even if it`s only a quid. Some dangerous toys slip through as well.
Poundstretcher wants you to stretch your pound. Most people refer to these shops as pound shops whilst most of the stuff is a pound other items are varied prices but still cheap. I would prefer to shop in TKMax and get a one off bargain at better quality.
How can pound shops sell a jar of coffee for a pound that costs nearly a fiver in other places? Is it the same brand and still within its 'best by' date?
Mary, pound shops don't sell the same things as TKMaxx (which I find irritating). If you want foodstuffs or toiletries you can get a bargain in the pound shops but they are not always what they seem.

Im not convinced it is no. I think it's foreign Nescafe. There's a difference in the taste. I've tried a few jars of the cheap Nescafe and it really doesn't compare, ive always had to go back to the "proper" stuff.
We have a poundshop, a poundbasket and a poundstretcher. The latter 2 are next door to each other.
We did have a poundshop but it closed, no consistency of stock.
