Can anyone remember Medic-air spray sold in Britain until around the 70s, it came in a black can and was meant to kill germs in the house. I can't see a single reference online and interested to know how it worked and when it finally stopped being sold?

David H, i remember it as Medic-aire, but ive just looked on amazon web site and they are selling a product called MEDICARE COLD SPRAY,. It is £7.49p a 200ml aerosol can. Hope this helps! x
Sorry David H, I thought i had found it for you but this clearly isnt for the same use as the original Medic-aire.This one turned out to be for sporting injuries, i did try though!x

Thanks georgiesmum (I musn't have ticked the subscribe or I'd have found this weeks ago), the main thing is someone remembers it, and confirms more or less it's no longer on the market. I loved the smell as well and reminds me of our old place in the 60s when I was a toddler and my mum probably sprayed it around nappy changing time. The only other questions are when it stopped and also if there's any online reference tucked away, there are plenty of nostalgia sites so will go along to one and post it there to fill the gap.

The final e seems to have made all the difference, Wellcome archives mention images available of Medic-aire spray so appears to have been one of theirs so can contact them directly now and see if they can provide something to put online.
