Very often new updated models are held back whilst they get rid off the old stock, which would largely become unsellable.

Be careful of shops like Currys, PC World etc.
They say "sale £100 off" etc but to be honest you could probably have bought the product at the same price (or even cheaper) before Xmas.
Legally a product can be said to be in a sale when it was sold at one store at the higher price for about 2 weeks.
So all they have to do is sell it at say Aberdeen at the higher price for 2 weeks and then after that in all their stores they can have huge SALE signs everywhere.
Many of these sales are a con.
