Gift for godson

I'm going to be a godmother in a couple of weeks can anyone think of an interesting gift/keepsake for my nephew and should I buy the parents anything?

I've never bought anything for the parents (I'm a Godmother twice over). One present I like is a set of childrens books, both your nephew and his parents should be able to get a lot of joy from them in years to come (and hopefully they'll think of you when reading them!). The complete Narnia series or something like that.

I always like to give a silver photo frame (pref with a photo of the child in it) they can keep it for ever.  Once I did give the child an iron as the family were poor and so needed one.

how about a hand plaster kit, so they could make an imprint of there child's hand or foot ?

I have numerous godchildren and have always given them all the same thing .A Bible.

start up a collegue fund for him and add to it each birthday xmas halloween / weekly alowance ect . You should take this honor serious and make sure they know your in it long term not just for the photos round the font . concider it a great honor they have choosen you to look over there own flesh and blood ... ooorrr how lovley .i am sure you will be great ...make sure you keep a lots of keep sakes to show him when he is older .. ie world cup info who was in the top ten at each year of his life ... he will love this when he is 18 .. time flies ... Your gift to the parents should be from the heart write them a letter explaining how you feel about been asked and what you plan to do in your role for him and them
