I am looking for a jacket I can stay dry and warm in when I walk the dog, without too much weight or bulk. I'd like a hood, and it should be just above knee-length,or thereabouts. Any recommendations as to brand.

The daughter uses a coat from tog 24 for dog-walking. Has a snuggly lining that you can take out in summer.............
ps. I have a khaki one, bought last year at the end of the season for half price. Might be worth waiting a couple of weeks, although you probably need a coat for this weather.
I have a cotton traders 'Windermere' coat. It has a hood which folds into the collar, a warm lining and is totally waterproof, best coat I've bought in a long time. It's reduced at the moment too (bought mine in the sale last year, good value).
In fact it's half price at the mo at £27.50
Have you managed to find a coat yet?

After ages searching for 'the one' I found this http://www.fieldandtrek.com/karrimor-parka-jacket-ladies-447477 and treated myself to it on my birthday in December. It's been brilliant and has so far got me through this nasty weather. It's really warm and the hood is great - even keeps my fringe dry!

Well worth the money (not too expensive either!)
