Am I alone in hating buying jeans?

I wear jeans most days and am happy to spend a fair bit on a pair to get a good fit, but trying to find a good fit is almost impossible.

I find a pair in the shop that seem to fit and are a bit tight so I'm confident that after wearing them for a while they will relax and I will be comfortable. But there's the problem some relax to a size larger and some don't give at all.

Last year I bought a pair of jeans and they were a really good fit, I went to replace them this year with the same style from the same shop and I could barely pull them up over my bum.

I find the best fit in Next, particularly those with the slightly stretch denim. The trouble with jeggings is they don't leave anything to the imagination and do need a longer top.

I think I might have to be a big brave girl and venture to M&S and check out their jeggings. I would only ever wear a tunic style top over the top of them so am not to worried on that front.

VnC, I've looked at NYDJ before but their leg lengths are a bit skimpy for me, although not a problem in the winter when I'm permanently in boots!
M & S jeggins are made of stretch denim, quite thick, so far better than those which are made of leggings material, no way would I wear those. I wear normal length tops as well as longer length with mine, it depends on your shape and what you feel comfortable in.
Same problem here Eccles. Love bootleg jeans and found some in Monsoon for £50...perfect fit even with my odd length legs so I bought two pairs.A few weeks later they were reduced to £13. 50! So I brought three pairs home. They are totally different to the ones I have and to each other. I shall have to lose weight, gain weight and lose or gain five inches in height to wear them all.

Inconsistent sizing in shops is a right royal pain in the arse!!! M&S and Boden are amongst the worse in my experience.

An assistant in M&S once advised me to take several of the same item and size into the changing room as they can be so variable.
I hate to be a party-pooper, but is George any good?
(George at Asda btw!!)
Question Author
Alba, making a constructive suggestion is never party-pooping!!!

I haven't been to Asda for over three years!
Mr Alba gets his jeans from there, he has strange legs, matches his strange wife!!

The do seem to cover a load of bases with inside legs and waists.

xx
I live in jeans, buying is jeans is no problem, I always buy Levi 501s 36 inch waist 32 leg off ebay always genuine, no problem.
George at Asda jeans are rubbish for ladies. If you want cheap and fashionable then Dorothy Perkins or New Look have lots of choice.

Oh my, we've got Gness with odd length legs....am I the only one wondering if one is 6" shorter than the other? And now we have Mr Alba with strange legs...strange how?

I'm learning more about fellow ABers and their families than I had anticipated....
GAP do very long women's jeans for those who are very tall.
lol Eccles, the joy and wonder of AB :-D

He just moans. full stop, it wasn't until I pointed out to him that his inside leg measurement was the same as his waist that he shut up!!
had a thought, Annemollie has very long legs, if I see her I'll ask if and where she buys jeans.

I find GAP are brilliant for leg length but crap for body length, it's not good to see my spangly thong poking out the top of my jeans when standing up and i is even worse to see the cheese wire disappear when I bend over.....

This is all part of the problem with jeans, it is a very personal thing about which jeans fit your body shape. And then when you want a new pair you discover there been an 'improvement' to the cut and they no longer fit you....
I'd never heard of jeggings till i read your post Eccles.
Will have a peek at them while shopping. I wear stretch jeans always
I hate buying jeans, so I do not possess any. I have some very elegantly tailored trousers and trouser suits, though.
I'm shortwaisted so have a long measurement from waist to..er..underneath. I also have very long slim legs. Getting any kind of trousers or jeans which fit and are comfortable is very difficult even though at 5'7" Im not hugely tall. I tend to buy three or four pairs when I find some that actually fit and are comfortable.
You're right Eccles, it's very personal.
I have found I can only get a good fit with jeans from a home shopping catalog
they have them for sale for £16 if you buy two pairs. The reason I buy them is because they have elastic in the back of the waistband. Other wise without the elastic the back stand out from my butt.! It is my butt that is the problem as it stands out rather a long way.!
I have jeans but I hardly ever wear them, I can't bear the constriction - I live in leggings and long tops (unless I'm going to a meeting when I wear a skirt).

OH has started buying his jeans from Peacocks - cheap and cheerful.
