Nectar Cards

do you have one, if so what are the pro's and cons of having it.

i have one and i get points which i tend to save up and use on petrol, you can save and use them for other stuff like days out etc

i guess pro's are that everything you spend money on is being entered into a database about you.....

all the loyalty cards are the same, they record everthing you buy. it get analysed, and they use the data in all sorts of ways, some to you benefit. its up to you whether you mind that information being recorded

I still think it is worth having. I main shop in Sainsbury's and build up a fair amount of points very quickly far better return than Tesco reward card and Morrisons offers of cash vouchers. Nectar have many other places to use the card too. I really dont care if my spending habits are noted Big Brother is everywhere else in every thing you do.

not sure whether i want one really, i wanted to see what the others think, also do you accrue points quickly, and is that offset on goods, i don't know enough about this sort of thing... i don't do cards..

The money you spend the more points you get.

The points you accrue depend on how much money you spend, but as you can use a Nectar card in quite a few places then that could be fairly quickly.

To me, reward cards are just a way of getting something for nothing. I'd be buying my shopping whether I had one or not so I might as well get something out of it. You're not going to earn millions but it's better than a kick in the teeth. :)

They`re not as good as they used to be. They used to stretch a lot further. I spend quite a lot at Sainsbury`s (considering I`m not here a lot of the time) and all I manage to accure is enough points to buy a measely bottle of champagne at Christmas. I can save more money than that by swapping a lot of my shopping list to Aldi because Sainsubury`s are so expensive. If you must shop there, you might as well use the card and get something out of them.

Two years ago I got us a couple of nights stay in a gorgeous hotel in Dublin using my Tesco clubcard points.

you get a point for every pound or litre - i think somethings are exempt like ciggies. 500 point is £2.50 so depending on how much you spend depends on how much you get back.

you can get nectar point from lots of places not just sainsburies. I claimed roughly £50 quid in petrol last year

You can also link your nectar card with ebay-and earn points with all purchases. Any card-whether credit,debit,loyalty-will create a record of purchases. The only way to avoid is to use cash only. How many of us want to do that?
