Christmas Lights

I know I know - some of us don't want to go there. But I am looking for christmas lights - preferably red and electric.

Had a look on various sites and they are all LED - surely these are batteries and wont last for long. Thanks

You can get LED fairy lights that plug into the mains.

thanks for that Eccles - must I look into boxes and see if there is a plug. Probably on the box it will say mains etc. - Why are they doing this - electric keeps the lights on forever.

Went to B&Q - on the specifications it doesn't say anything about electrical - just LED.

LED is very low power so having batteries isn't much of an issue and you don't need to have trailing cables to the socket.

I've got several sets of LEDs that plug in. If you have The Range near you I saw lots of sets, including red, on display when I went this weekend.

I have red LED fairy lights. I've had them for years; plug in to the mains, no problems at all with them:-)

LED refers to the type of bulb.

All of my Christmas lights are now led battery operated. They all ran for 8 hours a day from mid december to jan 6th and there was still power left in the batteries. No duff bulbs, no faffing about no trailing flexes, just pull out batteries in and switch on.

As said the advantage of LEDs is they are low power so can run on battery which enables you to put them up in places not near a plug, including outside. As for LEDS over bulbs, you don't get that painstaking task of fiddling with every bulb on the string to find out why they're not working.

Robinia thanks for that link - Homebase for me tomorrow - I loathe Christmas but since I have been so low for many years it is not fair on those who visit - to see such a miserable home - believe me I have loads of beautiful Xmas stuff in the attic but with broken shoulder I am always reluctant to ask people to bring them down and up every year. I threw a very expensive tree out last year cost me £80 - real looking green tree but it done my head in. So this year or rather last year in the sale I bought a pop up one but it has blue lights on it - don't like blue. In the attic I have a beautiful fairy sits on top of whatever - about 2-3 feet tall and she lights up and down and gently flaps her wings in and out. It is lovely. That's a must to get down.

Re the LED situation - did have those some years ago across garlands and they lasted but a crack so I said never again.
