Thank you Boo -how did you do that please? I copied and pasted the code that said Forums, message boards.
Use the one that says "direct link for layouts" :-)

Thanks Boo x
Its a rainbow coating. Are you sure its old? I have got champagne glasses like it bought new from John Lewis around 10 years ago.

woofgang I don't know how old they are, bought three of them for £2 at the local charity shop , I like them but might try and sell them on Ebay and wanted to know what the glass was. The shape of them looks like '20's or '50's, they are very fine and quite small, smaller than more modern wine glasses.

Khandro -that's great! thanks for the link -iridescent was the word I was looking for -so perhaps they are Vintage. Will do some more research. Cheers! x
I'd love to know how they know that bowl is old!
Carnival glass is often irridescent but usually pressed designs and much thicker
Question Author
woofgang sometimes the design gives it away, sometimes people just use the Tag word Vintage or Retro. From the look of that bowl I would say its around 30-40 years old -that's old to some people lol!
Oh gawd! You've no idea how ancient your remark just made me feel, Clary :((

lol at nibble!
A handy tip for recognising Victorian glasses is the foot is larger than the rim. Gently put two matching glasses together and if the feet touch before the rim they are almost certainly Victorian.
This isn't valid in your case, though they well be 1920-30's.
my garden tools are older than that! Do you think I could flog them as vintage?
Question Author
Woofgang -of course! I went to a Vintage sale yesterday and some of the stuff they were selling I still have and use on a daily basis. I refuse to accept that stuff made in the '80's is 'retro' lol!
ClaryS - to get the tinypic link to work, leave out the at the end.
Silver nitrate can be used to produce this iridescent effect on glass.
