Present Person In A Home

Getting into Xmas mode and wondered if you have any ideas to give a present to somebody in a home. I'm thinking of around £8 - 10.

nice smellies, a favourite food, a framed picture of a loved one. Does she feel the cold? if so a pretty scarf or posh slippers if she can wear ordinary shoes.

Thank you woofgang for those ideas: She's an aunt and has daughters and grandchildren so probably gets most of those. I was wondering if a jigsaw would be a bit 'this is a present for the elderly'. She's always been one of these aunts that was laid back so don't want her to feel older than she is.... A pretty scarf could be an option...

What about a nice Christmas basket plant arrangement which she can keep in her room.

Nice bottle of sherry, (if not on any drugs that would react) my late mother in law loved that. Had a glass before dinner.

Yes,some treats, like alcohol or chocolates. I've never known anyone refused alcohol in a home, no matter what meds they're on. Photo album with pictures of friends, relatives, plant or ornament for bedroom. It depends on her interests and hobbies really.

I know we all hate the dreaded poinsettia plants but many elderly people LOVE them. I hate them but my late mother LOVED them and so she was always given one... or two... or three.... They were certainly bright.

Please consider when buying the possibility of items being stolen as this happened many time in my friends nursing home. Food went to the staff "as well keep a hold of it for you" and clothing ended on some other patients. This is quite common in homes.

(I worked in a nursing home and the residents all appreciated stuff like that.)
