Hi All - I want to treat my Mum to either a Show or Opera in London for her 60th birthday in November. Does anybody have any suggestions for a Show or Opera or good websites helping with ideas and information. Thanks!

There are lots of really good shows in London, My fav being The Lion King the costumes alone in this production are amazing. My boyfriend and I have been to see this twice and would go again. but I'd also recommend Blood Brothers, Billy Elliot (there's some strong language used in this production if your mum has delicate ears!), Joseph & Stomp.  www.ticketmaster.co.uk or www.lastminute.com are good sites to get tickets.  Or you could go to one of the TKTS booths in London and get tickets for productions showing that day, they usually have a % off the price too but tickets are limited and seats may be restricted views.
Mamma Mia is brilliant. I'm sure your mum would love it.
I agree with Ursula62  Mamma Mia is one of the best shows I have ever seen !!!     Your Mum will LOVE it  (I am 62)

Not to sound obvious, but have you thought about Phantom of the Opera.

Went to see it 2 years ago and it was amazing - also doubt you will ever see it in a local theatre, as you will with all the aforementioned.

Yeah! Saw Mamma Mia last week and we all loved it! Me, hubby and visiting mate. It has everything ... although the best of the best is the Lion King .... fab stuff.

I saw Mary Poppins a few weeks ago at The Prince Edward Theatre,  it really was supercalifragalisticexpialodocious.
I am sure that your Mum would thoroughly enjoy it.

Oneeyedvic, Phantom tours regularly.  I have sold for it at theatres all over the country (although obviously the cast is not the same).  Lion King still has no plans to tour so that's a good London-only one, although good tickets are hard to come by at short notice.  This thread just goes to show how subjective taste is - I hate Phantom, Les Mis and Blood Bros, but that may be over-exposure as much as anything.  Scully, people have assumed that by 'show' you mean musical - but there are some great plays on in London too.  I'd check ticketmaster as Lore suggested - you can search on date and area.  If you did want a musical, I'd recommend Chicago.

Thanks everybody for your suggestions - gratefully received!

Blood Brothers Blood Brothers Blood Brothers- the London show is mind-blowing. I was crying my eyes out and jumping about like a loon by the end of it.

Also, I've seen Les Miserables 4 times, and it's out of this world!

How comes nobody has mentioned "The Producers"? - surely the best show that the West End has seen for many a year.

It's got the lot - great music, grest dancing and its very very very funny too!

I've seen it twice - once with Nathan Lane and Lee Evans and once with the new cast - and I enjoyed it just as much the second time as the first.

Highly recommended.

p.s I'm in the same age bracket as your Mum.
