We didn't spend any time at all in Churchill Square! We were on a mission to buy particular things for particular events - the North Laines proved spectacularly successful for that. We didn't lunch, we'd had a huge inclusive breakfast at our hotel, so made do with that until teatime.
Much has changed since I lived there, but much is still so lovely, and the people are fab. We both commented that we'd never encountered overall such friendly and interesting shop staff during our various purchases. It was a great trip.

Oh, boxy, I'm so glad you didn't go to Churchill Square, coz its quite ghastly. It's just a sterile shopping centre, full of out-of-towners.

I wonder if you went as far into North Laine as Kensington Gardens? (the really narrow bit). If you did, you have to stop at The White Rabbit for a vodka. It's a local bylaw. If you get caught walking down Kensington Gardens, and you don't call in The White Rabbit, you can get fined.

TBH Psy, I'm really not fond of antiques.
However, there's a pub right near the shop called the Saint James, where we often drop in for a Tuaca shot when we're in Kemp Town (equals most days, lol) and, if you're into rum, they have the most amazing selection of rums.
I sort of associate antiques with ornaments, and I have a deep loathing of ornaments.

The Saint James is one of those sanctuary pubs.
Half way up the hill, in Kemp Town, on a rainy afternoon, you can fall in there, and it's all stripped floors and big wooden tables, a shot of Tuaca, a vodka and, at this time of year, hot spiced cider, and you can hide away from the world, and watch the rain running down the windows.
I love it.
