Was in Sainsbury's today behind one customer with her shopping, she was almost finished and I had just five items hoping for a quick getaway, but she produced a pile of vouchers etc and rummaged through them, felt sorry for the poor girl on the till, she had out of date vouchers and kept checking I took my shopping to the paper counter couldn't wait for this inept customer why don't people have the necessary stuff ready, rant over!

I've been stuck more than once by people who hand over wads of vouchers and then each one has to be checked that they've actually bought the product. It is very irritating but sadly some of those in front don't care about those behind.

They say women can multi-task but I've yet to see evidence of this at cash tills!
I use rafts of vouchers if I have them - I need to save where I can - but I always go through them and make sure a) I have bought the thing and b) it's in date. It wasn't me in front of you today, caribeing.

If you'd only got 5 things, couldn't you have used a self-service till?
Some people have no patience!
Mmmmm, do you shop in Tesco as well, Tilly ?.

Should stop vouchers altogether and just take money off your bill most vouchers have use by dates on them and you never get to use them anyway. Stores give vouchers telling you what to buy and how much you have to spend to benefit!
I don't see how "caring about the people in the queue behind" fits in. Anyone can use vouchers. I wouldn't not hand mine over, just because there were people behind me. At Tesco, there are never NOT people behind me.
Also some vouchers say that you have to spend at least forty pounds to get money off.

I have great patience but can't tolerate shoppers who spend time with vouchers that they could get ready beforehand, I wanted to get cashback that's why I was in there!
I stood behind somebody at the Sainsbury's paper counter tonight, Caribeing, who bought industrial amounts of lottery tickets and scratch cards, plus five items including a reduced price pot plant with a label that wouldn't scan - is this ringing any bells??

I was the one behind who only wanted to buy a paper and some snout: I may have said it quietly, but I meant every word....;)
It's annoying when the customer has gone through all that and then the cashier has to fold and tear away a tiny counterfoil from each voucher.
ooh, don't you hate waiting behind people who are demanding cashback...
Question Author
Not demanding cashback just asking and it doesn't take any longer than a normal transaction!
Caring about those behind fits in obviously with this thread - people who hold up the queue and as you say certainly at my Tesco all tills are open and there are still always queues. I use self-service anyway when I can.
I think it was probably me Caribeing ..... did I buy enough cottage cheese for the 50 extra bonus points? Is the double points voucher still in date, can i get my 46p off from last week's shop please? Oh .... and there's 5p off a litre of petrol with thus top from TU. Yes it was me.

Tescos only send me vouchers which are relevant to my previous shopping, so it's very rare that they send me one that I don't want to use. I plan my shopping round the vouchers' expiry dates - my Tesco shop last week allowed for the vouchers which would have expired on 10 August. Perhaps some people just aren't voucher people.
I'm not a voucher person. I would rather they reduced all the prices instead of filling up my purse with bits of paper.
Ah, we're different then - I love money-off vouchers. Tesco and Morrison's prices are pretty cheap anyway these days.
You can get cash back at the self service tills, it asks you on the screen after you have finished scanning everything.
I agree Tilly - I can't be bothered to hunt through the many vouchers in my big shopping bag. Shoppers should not have to hunt through to get discount - it should already be discounted.
