Ok, I'm in my fifties, but still do a bit of sport and just went into Sports Direct to look for an exercise top.
1) Had to ask for the women's section which was tucked away in a corner on the bottom floor, a huge shop with the whole of the ground floor dedicated to men'ssportswear, mens trainers, and equipment.
2) Eventually founda few rails of womens top and chose 4to try on. Oh sorry, had to get some guy with attitude to unlock a changing room. Then told me I could only try on 3 items, so had to leave one outside and get dressed again just to try the 4th on.
3) Tried to purchase one and had to find someone to pay and another guy looked at me as if to say What The Funicular are you doing in here, took my money without comment,
Shall never return. I am now the miserable old woman they obviously assumed i was!!!

There is bags of variety, for all ages, shapes and sizes without having to deal with poorly trained, "cant be bothered" shop assistants. Here is one example;

But most high street shops offer an online service

Yes I would and I have bought stuff from SportsDirect.com (trainers) in the past and there has been no problem with that. I have on occasion bought clothing online but I do prefer to try things on without the hassle of having to return things if they don't suit. I did like the look of Fabletics gym wear but they really were an odd company and I had a few 'account' problems, and M&S stuff looks nice in a fashion sense but it isn't very 'sporty' I will look at your link, thx.
I went into one of them sorta shops and looked at trainers ,the assistant was looking at me like I was an envelope with no stamp on it .I said I wanted a pair of trainers/waking shoes as I want to get a few pounds off .She said okay .so I said these 40 quid pair will you give me a few pound of them say 17 for the pair ..Guess what she said .....
Back in the stone age, when I was 16, I had a Saturday job in a shoe shop. I worked 9 till 6 and was paid £1, which, discounting an hour's lunch break, works out at 12½p per hour. I was also paid just under 1p in the £ commission on every pair of shoes I sold. As the most expensive shoes in the shop cost £5 I didn't get very rich. I also had to wear a suit. Happy days!
