Oh pooh.

I ordered a dress on line and it cost £140 I had to send my measurements and they 'made it to measure'

What a joke that is. The dress falls off (it is a strapless one) straight to the floor and the jacket doesn't even fit over my elbows.

Check to see if you ordered the dress a year ago and youv'e since loss weight ?
Check the measurements of the garment against those you supplied and email the company with the discrepancy clearly outlined.
Well, if you sent your measurements, measure up the dress and contact the firm telling them what you asked for and what you got and demand a refund.

I only ordered it three weeks ago so I haven't lost that much weight. Mind you it would be nice if I did lol

I emailed them to say the dress was far too big and the jacket too small. They have asked if I can get it altered locally. I said yes but who would pay for it and of course how can you make something too small bigger to fit?
Did you send the measurements by email?

Hi,

They emailed back asking if I could take it to a tailor here. I said yes but who was going to pay for it and how can they make a jacket so small it doesn't fit over my elbows bigger?

They asked for photographic evidence with a tape measure that the dimensions I sent were accurate.

I did that today but haven't heard back yet. I also said that as the dimensions I sent were accurate that they would have to either replace in it's entirety or pay for tailoring to fit.

Watch this space to see if they do...
Just out of interest was this from one of those Chinese sites?
It definitely sounds like one of those dodgy Chinese sites to me.
Oh, cassa, I'm really sorry to hear about this.

It must be so frustrating.
Question Author
Yes it is a Chinese site but I didn't realise that until the invoice arrived
Where did you buy it from and how did you pay?
Question Author
That's odd hc, There was more to my post but it hasn't come up??

I got it from okdress.co.uk

To be fare it is well made but their idea of burgundy is ruby red lol

It wasn't cheap and I don't really want to or should be expected to pay to make it fit.
They don't hide the fact they are based in China. From their 'about us' page:

We are the Chinese on-line shop which sells the products under the brand Okdress and mainly aiming at women fashion product...

UK won't apply so you're only hope is to rely on their policy:
Size Errors
2. We provide a modification service for our customers, who can send back the dress to us and get the dress modified within 7 working days. In this case, we are responsible for the shipping costs including returning and sending back after modification.
3. Customers can also return a dress with measurement errors, and will receive a refund for the purchase price plus shipping.

If all that fails you may be able to your money back from the payment provider such as your credit card.

I'm not saying they hid the fact they are based in Chine, just that I didn't realise but it wouldn't have made a difference anyway lol

I shall see what they say
I only asked because I also ordered a dress from such a site (lightinthebox) and they offered exact sizing. I didn't have a problem with that but when it eventually arrived there was some stitching that had come undone and the colour was awful and nothing like it appeared on screen. I'll never wear it which is a shame.
I think Cassa- you will have to kiss your £140 goodbye - you will only exhaust yourself back and fro. This won't be worth the effort.
That is simply not true, Jennyjoan. The company accepts credit cards so if cassa paid by that method there is every chance she will get her money back from the bank if all else fails.
