Pre Lit Xmas Trees

I have a fibre optic tree and it is fab!!!

I had fibre optic when the kids were younger. You can still add baubles etc. Much more convenient than a real tree.

I haven't put up a tree for a long time though.

thanks Ummmm - and Chris - Chris, you are right - too expensive tree and still not the right umbrella but thanks for looking.

Ummmm - to be honest I am glad you said you don't put a Xmas tree up and yet you have 3 children. I don't really want to put one up but sorta felt I have to. I do have lovely decorations and think I will just put them up and do me rightly. I just treat Xmas day like a Sunday.

Jenny - My children are grown up now and have absolutely no interest in the decorations. Two of them don't live at home. My daughter is in Ireland and my oldest son lives with his girlfriend. Every year we go to my in-laws for xmas dinner.

My younger son decides nearer the time where he's spending xmas day. Last year he went to my sisters for dinner and then came to the in-laws in the evening. As long as they're having fun I don't mind :-)

But back to the tree....Fibre optics are good....I'd recommend them.

thanks Ummmm - I have had many fibre optic trees over the years - in fact just about 2 years ago I gave a very expensive one to a friend of mine. I don't like them really - I am going to give the tree a miss.

I find them untidy. They are just something in the room that shouldn't be there...

I've rubbed of on my son. He tells his friends not to get him xmas cards as it's a waste of paper and they make the room look untidy :-)

I totally agree - after doing your Xmas cleaning - when the decorations are down - the house looks unbelievably dusty and needs more cleaning. I have also lowered my card sending.

I called into a friend some months ago - she lives a good bit away - and noticed this wee Xmas card on her fireplace. When I looked it was mine from last year - believe me it was a scittery wee thing but she thought it was lovely. I have now arranged to get a personal card done this year representing herself and her much loved dog - can't wait to see it and know she will certainly keep this.

My MIL used to buy cards for us from her and dad, one from his sister, and one each from the 5 grand kids. They weren't pack cards, they were all individually picked 'to son and daughter in law' 'to uncle and aunt'

They were always in her handwriting so deemed the cards pretty pointless :-)

Saying that...this is from a woman that buys her own birthday cards. Before her birthday she gives her husband the card and he hands it back on the birthday without it even being taken out the wrapper!! :-D

I find it hilarious. (he's a very good husband/father besides that)

I don't send cards to people I'm going to spend the day with, nor do I put up decorations, even though we host Christmas every year. We might get a tree, but probably not now that my son is grown-up. The best thing about having a tree was dressing it with him and putting on all the old baubles and things that he'd made when he was little.

Ummm, that reminds of a time I was about to write a birthday card for my sister when she unexpectedly walked into my room. I quickly shoved it into the envelope and forgot about it until I had to give it to her. She was most upset that I hadn't written anything in it. To give someone a card without even taking it out of the wrapper is beyond priceless. :))

I know, it's so funny. Luckily MIL sees the funny side.

He just seems to have an issue with cards. He openly loves her. He cooks breakfast every weekend, takes her out every Sunday, will say how much he loves her in front of people. He just doesn't wright in cards :-)

Hi All - got my Xmas street after all. I pick it up on Friday as I have asked them to assemble it for me. Just wanted to let you all know and thanks all for your help

No visitors this year so we'll not be going to the bother of putting up a tree or any other decorations.

I can just about tolerate a tree but anything else is far too twee for me.
