Ebay - Faulty Item

I recently purchased a coffee machine on Ebay. The item was listed as in good working order.

I have used it everyday for 10 days. on 3 occasions when using the milk frother it has tripped my electrics. The problem seems to be intermittent.

I did email the seller to ask for a full refund and refund on postage as it is a faulty item.

He said that he thinks I have changed my mind on the item and no longer want it, so I have made an excuse.

The seller has advised he will give a refund, however will not refund the postage if it is found it is not faulty after he has checked the item. If it is found to have a fault then he will refund me the postage.

I really like this coffee machine and it is now inconvenient for me to return.

Any advice on my reply to him via email. I don't want to come across as being rude.

I`d have it pat tested asap - if you havent already done so you can leave feedback - dont need to be to negative but let them know you arent happy. Email him and run over the issues, pointing to your positive feedback and those you have given.
I don't think that you can reasonably expect to both keep the machine AND get a refund.
Return it to him, explain that it is an intermittent fault and look around for a replacement.
It may not be the coffee machine, it may just be your trip switch is overly sensitive.

I expect someone with more expertise will advise you further soon.

Jackthehat - i will certainly return the item, as i would not expect to keep it.

It is deffo the coffee machine, as it always trips when using the milk frother.

Sorry, my question is is, how to i stand on getting the postage refunded if the item has an intermittent fault?

Obvs, he is going to check the item and he will probably determine that it does not have a fault.
Go to eBay's contact page and get them to phone you - you generally only have to wait a couple of minutes and explain the situation to them.
Don't post back the coffee machine. Once the seller has it back, you have no proof if they say it's not faulty, plus you have no coffee machine and may have to pay further P+P to get it back!
You will also be paying to post it back to the seller, don't forget
EBay's complaints team will tell you what to do. They are experienced in these matters and usually find in favour of the buyer.
//It is deffo the coffee machine, as it always trips when using the milk frother.//

It is not an intermittent fault if it ALWAYS trips when using the milk frother.
