Alternative Kettle

Need to replace a kettle & want one that dispenses the boiled water with the press of a button. Not needing instant boiling water on tap so to speak. Finding it difficult to choose a model. Help please

These things tend to be very expensive....why spend all that money when you can get a kettle for £9.99 in Tesco ?

if you live alone or only 2 of you it is much better Mikey..cup ready in seconds..only boils one cup at a time..why boil a pint or more when all you want is a cup

mikey, it's possible that potiche has difficulty in picking a kettle up

I'd like a quiet kettle, we tend to switch ours on and leave the room for 5 minutes ;o)

We had a Breville Hot Cup , gave it away to a neighbour as we rarely used it. It was very noisy when it was 'Brewing Up'. Dispenses 250 ml of boiling water at a time. You can't change the amount it's 250 ml or nothing. But it's good if you can't lift a kettle as you just put the cap under the spout and press the button.

Spot on ael.... it's safety with my father in mind. Good points about noise and amount of water. Prices appear to go 40, 60...... then 130 so obviously top of range morphy richards will have ironed out these issues & provide a pot full rather than a cupful and choice of temp. Friend who had a stroke got one from Aldi years ago & godsend for her. I read the breville not hot enough for tea but good enough for coffee & instant drinks.

I was all prepared to get one of these to go in my new kitchen, but I was warned that - with the extreme hardness of the water round here - it would soon fur up, and be almost impossible to descale.

The Breville does boil the water, it is fine for making tea. In fact the steam pressure from the boiling is what forces the water out of the kettle and into the cup. No temperature control, boiling or nothing!

Our water is hard, but descaling is easy , you just fill it with descaling fluid, boil a few portions of that then rinse well out with clean water.
