Buying Trainers

When you buy trainers, is it okay if they feel tight when you try them on - will they give with time? Or if they start tight will they stay tight, and is a best to buy a size bigger?

Assuming you intend to do a bit of walking, or training, in them, you should be able to press your thumb at the front of the big toe area without touching your big toe, or alternativel y put a finger in the back of the trainer behind you heel without your big toe being squashed.

my parents used to tell me I'd "grow into" shoes that seemed tight when I got them. But of course my feet grew bigger; result: a lifetime of sore feet. So I'd say always get a size bigger (or half a size if available), even if you're not still growing. Don't go too big, though, if they're loose they may rub on your feet and cause blisters.
