Wanted to buy some elastic for my favourite summer trousers. Went to several well known chain stores whose range was not quite to my needs, expensive and packed in cardboard and a plastic bubble. Then visited a local independent where I was served by a delightful mature lady who knew exactly what I needed and knew exactly where to find it. I bought the 5 metres at 16p per metre. No calculator required and given in a paper bag. Result! I so want to buy something else there.
