Not sure if they stopped buying but they still do valuations, give them a call.

Cheers mamy, might be worth it trying to get a few prices on a chain
Question Author
if i could give thickness, length and weight do you think someone on AB might posses the skills to give me a rough evaluation?

For scrap price.. I'd only get £58-60
Shops like Ramsdens, who do currency and jewellery, buy second hand but I think they only give scrap value.
Question Author
I won't be accepting scrap value as i honestly think I could get double.
If you want more than scrap value you'll have to sell it privately - eBay or auction. Even if is worth double the scrap value the jeweller will only give you half as they have to make a profit and pay their taxes etc.
I can't believe you've posted about a chain without supplying a link.
Boom boom!

lol douglas ;)

HC i might have to do just that :/

I think it's hard to find nice thick chains that are also deep, not making the metal feel think potentially easily damaged. The one I have the quality is impeccable no one would question an asking price of £100 +
What sort of chain is it, Spath? My wife is fond of jewellery and might be interested if it's to her taste.
Question Author
It's a curb chain - if worn, it would look similar to the chain in this photo of thickness, length and depth - https://www.silvertime.co.uk/images/reviews/667-jewellery-review-13mm-heavy-mens-silver-curb-chain-bracelet.jpg

Is it silver or gold?
Oh, she wouldn't wear anything like that, sorry
Question Author
it's quite OK HC, i appreciate the sentiment but the logistics would be awkward still :)

It's 925
if you are looking to get more than scrap then it would need to be based on the maker or the design....
Question Author
It's rare to find a curb chain of a similar width depth to width ratio. Usually thick chains (width) have a very thin depth, making them feel cheap and easily breakable, where as this could choke a dog.
There's always royal mail, spath. Best bet is to sell it on eBay - it's worth a punt and you never know. Christmas is coming after all :)

Silver scrap value is rubbish at the moment - how heavy is it?
Question Author
For weight i'd get between £58 and £60 depending on the fluctuation at the time and the scrap buyer.
Question Author
maybe morel like £50 you know actually.
that may be so spath but are those heavy chains desireable now?
