I know I am not the only one, and we are all suffering in equal measures. But I am so despairing about what is happening.
Supermarkets are a nightmare. I am 70 and get jostled constantly, by younger impatient shoppers, which makes me feel dizzy.
I stood in a queue at Boots for almost an hour hoping to get a packet of Paramol for my neuralgia, only to be told they had none left, and they had no ordinary Paracetemol either.
I am not mobile so can't do the rounds of the shops to get what is needed, and there is so little on the shelves.
Sorry to be such a misery. I know that each and everyone of you is feeling the same way but I needed a wee moan. Thank you for your patience.
Can you get to one of the supermarkets doing the "first hour for over-70s" at all? I know that our local Waitrose was quite well stocked and reasonably quiet from 7.30 to 8.30 this morning...and they are doing it every weekday morning. Means getting up early!
I asked about your age because, Mr T, being 70 had a letter today from our Borough Council saying that, if he needed any help with shopping etc, they have formed a support group and to get in touch if he needed any support whatsoever.
Our surgery has said to contact them if their patients are struggling in the way you describe. See if your surgery can help with the pharmacy items you need.
They may help directly, or put you in touch with a volunteer group.
Thank you, everyone, what kind people you all are. I am not in London, but thank you for your kind offer, SharonA. Sorry about the moan - we are all suffering and I am not the only one. But the last straw today was when I tried to book a slot for home delivery from my local Tescos, Asda and Sainsburys. All three had not one slot left. I just don't know how we are to cope. Thank you for your answers.
i know how you feel, i have managed to get a friend to purchase some veg for me, fine, but there are no slots on the online shopping i usually do for over three weeks
i despair i really do, as i am more or less housebound
I have balance problems (no pain, luckily) but I couldn't carry more than two bags. I have kids though who will get any essentials I need, and a partner with a vehicle.
i have a friend who may be able to help, but she has full time job as well as two kids now off school to fend for plus the husband....doesn't look good one way or another.
