Lots of people give me ideas of things they'd like for Christmas, but this year I've got 2 girl 19 year old friends who I'd spend 15ish on, but just have absolutely no idea what to buy. I wouldn't trust myself buying a CD or DVD, as don't know what they have already. Any ideas?

I've not got much imagination either - so I'd get them a voucher from somewhere they could get their own choice of CD or DVD.
I don't think you can ever go wrong with those really nice bags to take all your toiletries away, we all need them sometimes and some have nice matching little make up bags inside. Very posh key rings are nice too, there are some lovely silver ones around or beaded and jewelled ones. If all else fails a voucher is very acceptable ......
I'd find out what their favourite stores are and buy them a gift voucher. I did this last year for my daughter-in-law who loves Etam and she was over the moon with her voucher! The year before I bought he expensive smellies and she and my son were living with us at the time. The smellies I bought her are still sitting in my bathroom 18 months after they moved away! Smellies are a personal thing - and not very imaginative, really!
Other than that - how about having a look at a couple of websites like IWOOT (stands for I want one of those) where they have some of the daftest things, most of them so daft you just got to have one or at least know someone who'd enjoy receiving a fun present!

Does it have to be a surprise? Maybe you could ask them if there's anything they wanted.

Otherwise, vouchers are good - WHSmiths vouchers are very useful because you can get CDs, DVDs, books, stationery and art materials. If you know they're into music then HMV vouchers. If they are readers and use Amazon, you can get amazon gift vouchers online (you'd need the recipient's email address though).

maybe ask them to go on Amazon and do a wish list of a few things, then you'll find out what they'd like and because you're only getting one thing (i'd imagine) they'll still get a bit of a surprise, not knowing exactly what you're getting them.

If they're your friends I think gift vouchers are a bit impersonal, you'd be better taking a chance with something they can return.

Thnkas very much everyone, very much appreciated! I tend to agree with Morrisonker that vouchers would be abit impersonal in this case, but it's still an option!

Thanks x

Do they like make up? You can never go wrong with a really nice lip gloss (a bit more of a special make as people generally don't buy them for themselves as often). If you do though, they have to be into it so they know it's expensive. Lancome Juicy Tubes (YAY) are cool and quite fun.
