I have no idea what you can get onto a 32GB stick as I only use them for storing music.
It wasn't me that thought it was for your parents.
Also, I didn't realise the Humax I pointed out was one to bid for, but it might be worth you looking out for something like this, pre-owned.

Just had another look on ebay and there are loads of pre owned recorders that are free postage or click and collect and really cheap. Just make sure it comes with a remote.This one comes with the manual as well.
