Best On Wheels Suitcase To Buy?

What a minefield! Soft or hard case? How many wheels, 2 or 4? Best brand to buy?
I won't have to wheel it far, out of the building to my car but a bit longer the other end along a lane which will be a bit rough. Are they all waterproof? I'll probably go for medium size, I think.
Anybody got one? Your advice please. Thank you.

I have the Kipling luggage. Long lasting add durable. Often on sale on Amazon. Some 10 years old and still going strong. Many different sizes and shapes

Just about to say IT Mally and definitely a 4 wheel spinner as it glides along with you holding the handle

I like Tripp. I've had one of theirs, a large, soft case, for about 6 years and it's had many flights and visits and looks as good as new. It's really too large and I wished I'd bought a medium but it's too good to replace yet.

Thanks everyone. Four wheels then, and medium, I've decided. Still not sure on soft or hard but moving towards soft I think.
Definitely like the idea of it gliding along, can I get one that'll pull me along with it!!!
I will take a look at all the brands mentioned and thanks for the Tripp link carrot, looks good and half price. I'm tempted.

I would always go with 4 wheels. You can always pull it along on two. 4 wheels are handy if you're really tired and you can use it as a hand rest.

I just bought mine from Amazon, hard shell, about 7 years old and even though my son uses one to go back and forward to uni it still looks new.

my IT cases are 2 wheeled but very easy to pull as they are so light

I've got a very light two-wheel IT one. Remember four wheel ones may be smaller internally if the wheels take up more space in the lockers.

When I worked at a railway station, I helped vast numbers of passengers with their luggage. My advice is to go for a case where the wheels are a good distance apart (i.e. a nice wide case). They wheel along easily but narrower cases, with the wheels closer together, keep tipping from one side to the other as you pull them along.

Samsonite are best (preferably a Spinner) Hard shell. What I don't like these days (and I wouldn't buy one) is the type of case that is in two halves which are joined by a zip. The zip takes all of the 'play' as regards movement and will fail eventually.

American Tourister aren't too bad either. They are owned by Samsonite. Not as hard wearing but OK for holiday travellers

So much to think about. Difficult. I don't want to buy cheap stuff but I shall get very little use out of it. It's not as if it's going through airports etc, only in and out of my car.
