My first grandchild is due next month, and I’d love to knit him a little cardigan. I used to knit a lot, but not for about 28 years now.

Please can you give me a suggestion of where to get a pair of needles and some yarn in one stop? I’ve got a pattern waiting. There used to be wool shops in every high street around here, but no longer. I’m driving myself a bit mad looking on various websites. Thank you

Try John Lewis.
We have a shop called Shaws in our local town. They do curtains, bedding etc, also wool & knitting needles.
There's a few stores around the country, but failing that, they are on line.
Dunelm carry both
Or Dunelm or The Range

Thank you all.
Naturally Amazon sells yarn singly and in packs as well as knitting needles.
You may have a Hobbycraft near you, too.
Our Poundland has wool - not sure about needles!
Boyes, plus B&M, Factory Shop
Since lockdowns I'm now buying much of my wool through Amazon. I've been quite happy with the choice but I always read reviews. One thing I did find recently is that Sirdar, or at least the last I bought, isn't quite as good as it once was.
As for needles. You may have a preference, Jo, but I dislike plastic needles.
I've got all needles and wool from Amazon. Still better with crochet than knitting....

I must look further for my wool and needles
Pixie, I’ve never got the hang of crocheting. I’ve tried so many times, but just can’t get it.
