The last funeral we went to in February, my OH wore a black Crombie with dark grey trousers, white shirt and black tie. I wore a black tartan skirt with a black leather jacket, black boots. The daughter of the deceased remarked how smart we looked. She was immaculate but half the congregation looked as if they had dressed to go shopping in Tesco. In my opinion, dressing smartly for a funeral is a sign of respect for the deceased and their family. A suit is not required to dress smartly but please don't wear cargo pants and a puffa jacket or worse still a hoodie!
