Is there generally a difference in dress style between someone who is 40 and someone who is 60 years old?

Or no difference

Just depends on the individual
for women at least, body shape tends to change post menopause, so clothes might be different (ie a sixty year old might value conveience and comfort over style more than a 40 year old does) my mum who is now in her early 70s dresses differently than when she was 40, mainly because she doesnt now work and she's a little stouter in the middle. also because when she was 40 it was the 80s and fashion changes
and for men, it's debateable when a change happens, but my colleague put it perfectly. It's when you are too old for a hoodie, but not yet old enough for a cardigan
It depends, as others point out. But generally teenagers are ok with looking weird if it is what their peers do, whereas older folk get fed up with all that nonsense and are more likely to go with something classic/traditional. The choice then is whether the individual feels more comfortable wearing smart/formal or casual.
The 60 year olds might still be buying their clothes at M&S.
