Have you asked your bank?  If they can't help you could buy Krone at the airport when you arrive.

Why not pay by card for this as well? You could always get a Revolout card.

On second thoughts prices are quite high in Norway so you may as well pay for coffee etc by card.

We always found the best way to get foreign currency was to use your bank card in a cash machine in your destination country. You can just get say £10s worth that way - even better if you have a bank that doesn't charge for foreign transactions.

Yes card. i answered fully on wrong thread but won't retype it

Never done bhg s way but it's worth considering if you only need say £100

Probably best to use your card really.  At least thay way you won't be left with currency you don't want.

We visit Sweden fairly frequently and have never bought any Swedish currency, we pay by card for everything including small purchases like coffee, etc. I really wouldn't bother with cash and just use your card.

I heard that some places you need to pay by cash. Card is sounding better though, especially like naomi says I won't be left with currency I won't ever need

Revolut is preloadable, you can transfer back any money you don't spend on it via the APP and you will save a fortune as it doesn't charge an exchange rate or transaction fees.  We've used ours in numerous countries.

Thank you all.

For that sort of amount, it's not worth bothering about fairly small variations in the exchange rate.  Simply head down to your local post office to buy the foreign currency that you want.

Even if it's 'only for coffees really', you will need a lot of Norwegian krone - prices in Norway are eye-watering!

I haven't been abroad since 2008 so know nothing about Krones but did think that if you used your debit card to buy anything - the bank charged you.  Has that changed now?

Some banks do charge, others don't.

ok - thanks Barry - I'll not worry about it too much as I won't be flying abroad ever again.  Fuerteventura was enough for me.
