Anyone got any experience of this company? We are considering trying to get our bedroom fitted out. They keep advertising on tv, wondered what they were like.

I have used them twice. The first time they measured everything three times, the designer, the assistant surveyor and the the surveyor. Shame when they tried to push our bed into the space, that the bed was six inches too big for the bespoke hole , oh how I laughed - not.

mr sense five years later - when we had some work done in another house and were left with an odd space- wore me down with it was a one off, it couldn't happen again, it was years ago, get over it etc etc...... suffice to say had it not been for the talents of the proper carpenter they sent to fit it (who they no longer employ ) we would be unhappy.

I have used an independant one man band to do two rooms since, and have been v.happy with the finish, and it cost at least fifty per cent less than dealing with the big groups - and the independant assures me he is doing o.k. out of it too!

They are very expensive and usually all they do is contract the work out. We found a man in our local paper , he showed us photos of his previous work and his price was half that of the big companies, my advice is shop around and good luck.

we actually had sharps round our house yesterday evening. the salesman measured up, then did a crude drawing. he then quoted us the ridiculous price of 4500 for what was in effect just one wall of wardrobes and a couple of bedside chest of draws. the sharps website clearly states that the average bedroom price they charge is 2700, and we only have a tiny bedroom in a terraced house. also, you look at their brochures and the example pics show bedrooms absolutely crammed full from wall to wall and floor to ceiling with units, the drawing he did us was nothing like that. when we told him it was too expensive he turned very nasty and rude, we had to kick him out in the end ( after 2 hrs of bu****it )

Do you mind saying what area of the country you live in?

Yes sense4all. I live in the county of Cambridgeshire.
Ok so my guy from Bucks - Berks is going to find it too far.... but I have a mate who lives near Huntingdon, on the drive up I saw that Potten Homes have their display homes in your neck of the woods( these are wood framed homes) make a phone call on spec. and see if they can recommend a talented chippie in your area. Most small guys have a photo log of work they have done ask to see it for real if your not sure ... I would be only too happy to let a prospective client look at my guys work in situ!

Thanks for all the answers to date. It is as I suspected, which is why I posted the question just to see if my faith in these sort of companies would be restored. I remember having a kitchen company round a few years ago, what an awful experience that was, don't want to go there again (why do have to get so aggressive). Its a shame Sense4all I don't live in your area but will take your advice. If there are any talented chippies who are reading this who live in my area please post here. I would still be interested with any other comments about Sharps. Thanks

I've used them twice and had no probs either time. Each time it was about 3000 for a fully fitted bedroom - OK - I could have got it cheaper but I had no idea about local 'chippies' having just moved into the area.

As an aside - the same company owns Dolphin bathrooms - I had them round for a quote and it was laughable - so rediculously expensive!
