Salamanda I have been in to argos before and I have bought stuff from there before. Like the Barbie Bouncer I bought as 1 of my daughters christmas presents. Then on christmas day when she used it 3 thats right 3 springs detached from the frame and 1 hit my daughter in the leg leaving a gash 3 inches long. Another spring smashed a couple of ornaments doing no harm whatsoever on my mantlepiece. Before that i had bought a little pink telephone set for my daughters bedroom and within a day of using it that too also decided to pack up with out warning and go to CHEAP PIKEY CR@P heaven,

That's not exactly Argos's fault, surely the manufacturers? I'm sure it's not only Argos that sell those badly made toys!

Maybe madele, you can try understanding the difference between what a manufacturer is and what a retailer is.

I am considering buying a tv from them and I don't think that Sony is classed as 'cheap'.

I have also purchase several things from Argos before, and find that if anything does go wrong they have an excellent returns policy.
oneeydvic I know exactly the difference between a retailer and a manufacturer. I still believe that as a retailer Argus should have testing procedures or follow up on quality control from the manufacturer. Just because you are buying a "sony" shouldnt give you the confidence to think because its expensive its gonna be alright. thats a stupid assumption.

Yes, I am sure that if you go into tesos, they have personally inspected every item - opening up the tins to make sure that there are no foreign objects in etc.

No, I am not assuming that because something is expensive it is going to be alright.

I am assuming it is going to be okay as: Sony is a reputable company which have been manufacturing for over 30 years plus The tv I am looking at has won various awards by independent.

I am also not stupid enough to think that Argos (or in fact any other retailer you care to mention) have tested my specific model.

I am aware that things do go wrong, and should anything go wrong, I am confident that Argos will arange for repairs or for a refund.

But still, on the basis that Argos has a turnover of 2.8 Billion pounds and pre tax profits of over 60 Million, I doubt they are going to mourn the loss of a silly woman who thinks that they should inspect every product before it leaves the store!
